On August 7, Grade 8 student Gabriel Pontual brought home a gold medal for School of the Nations after competing in the Triathlon at the Jogos Escolares do Distrito Federal (JEDF). Racing in the 12–14 age category, Gabriel also secured 3rd place overall in the competition, despite starting one minute later than athletes in other categories, which included participants up to 17 years old.

The triathlon consisted of running, cycling, and swimming. Gabriel was the only athlete representing School of the Nations, making his achievement even more remarkable and placing the school prominently on the podium.

The JEDF is an annual event designed to encourage sports among students across the Federal District. It promotes values such as health, discipline, inclusion, teamwork, and leadership, while also identifying young talents who may advance to national-level competitions.

Reflecting on his experience, Gabriel shared, “It was amazing to represent the school. I like it here because it’s a place where I get encouraged to be both a good athlete and a good student. It’s a very supportive place!”

By excelling in both academics and athletics, Gabriel exemplifies the balanced, holistic development the School of the Nations seeks to cultivate in its students.
