Service Day Brings the Nations Community Together for Seven Service Experiences Across Brasília

Students, families, faculty, and staff joined partner communities and organizations across the city, putting service, unity, and social responsibility into action.
On Saturday, August 29, students, families, faculty, and staff from School of the Nations came together for Service Day 2026, a morning dedicated to service and collaboration with local communities and partner organizations. With a new format this year, participants took part in seven service experiences across Brasília, extending the involvement of our school community beyond campus.
Throughout the morning, each group participated in activities designed around the work and needs of our partner organizations. These included storytelling, creative workshops, games, and sports activities with children; environmental clean-up and awareness activities along the shores of Lake Paranoá; support for rescued animals; donation organization; and the production of hygiene items for people in need of care.
At Vila do Pequenino Jesus, participants joined a task force to help produce items for residents with physical and neurological disabilities. The experience also included a special performance by the Nations Band, which shared music with residents, volunteers, and other participants.
Other groups spent the morning with children in the communities of Santa Luzia, in Cidade Estrutural, and São Sebastião, leading storytelling, art, games, sports, and other activities. In one of the experiences, participants also helped prepare a space that is being transformed into a library. Students and family members also spent time with refugee children through recreational, artistic, and sports activities.
Environmental and animal welfare initiatives were also part of the program. Near Ponte JK, one group participated in a shoreline clean-up and environmental awareness activity. At an animal shelter, participants supported the care of rescued animals by making dog beds, organizing donations, taking photographs, and creating awareness materials.
Service Day is an important expression of Moral Education and Global Citizenship at School of the Nations. Through service, our students broaden their understanding of different realities while developing social responsibility, cooperation, and respect for diversity, putting into practice our mission to educate world citizens committed to serving humanity.
The School extends its appreciation to all students, families, faculty, staff, partner organizations, and volunteers who contributed to Service Day 2026 and helped make it a morning of collaboration and community.
