Nations Claims Second Consecutive AASB High School Knowledge Bowl Title
Team wins seven of eight matches and brings home the championship for the second year in a row.

On October 2 and 3, teams from 16 schools in the Association of American Schools in Brazil (AASB) gathered at Our Lady of Mercy School (OLM) in Rio de Janeiro for the 2026–27 AASB High School Knowledge Bowl, an academic competition that challenges students across a wide range of subjects.
Grade 12 students Alice Raad, Giordano Sant’Anna, Rodolfo Araújo, and Felipe Thomaz represented Nations. The team had a strong performance throughout the tournament, winning seven of eight matches and finishing in first place. With this result, Nations claimed the championship for the second year in a row.
Knowledge, Strategy, and Teamwork
The Knowledge Bowl is a trivia-style academic competition in which teams answer questions from different areas of knowledge under time pressure. Topics include computational math, science, social studies, pop culture, politics, and current events.
Success in the competition requires more than knowing the right answers. Students need to think quickly, communicate clearly, work as a team, and draw on each member’s strengths. Throughout each round, they work together to analyze questions and decide on their answers within a limited amount of time.
In the months leading up to the competition, Alice, Giordano, Rodolfo, and Felipe prepared with the support of Nations teachers, who helped the team get ready for the tournament. The students were accompanied to Rio de Janeiro by Ms. Priscila and Mr. Reinhold.
A Second Consecutive Title
This year’s championship follows Nations’ victory in the previous school year, when the school also won the AASB High School Knowledge Bowl.
Winning the title for a second consecutive year reflects both the students’ performance during the tournament and the preparation that took place in the months before the competition. Across eight matches, the team combined knowledge from different areas with quick thinking, communication, and teamwork to achieve another strong result for Nations.
With seven wins and a second consecutive championship, Alice, Giordano, Rodolfo, and Felipe concluded this year’s Knowledge Bowl with an achievement that reflects their preparation, commitment, and ability to work together as a team.
