Teachers from Early Childhood to High School represented the School of the Nations at the Annual Educators’ Conference, where they led workshops, exchanged ideas, and celebrated student achievement.

Twelve teachers from the School of the Nations traveled to Panama City from April 8 to 11 to participate in the AMISA 2025 Annual Educators’ Conference, hosted by the International School of Panama. Under the theme “BridgeBuilders: Connecting What Matters,” the event brought together teachers, coordinators, and school leaders from across the Americas and members of the American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA) for a week of learning, sharing, and collaboration.

Nations teachers joined their peers in exploring new strategies, discussing current trends, and strengthening global partnerships in education. The conference provided opportunities for deep professional learning, allowing our teachers to refine their skills, gain new perspectives, and engage with innovative practices across disciplines and grade levels.

Representing all school sections—from Early Childhood through High School—our teachers were not only active participants but also contributors to the event. Drawing from their classroom experiences, they offered workshops that reflected Nations' commitment to student-centered, inquiry-based learning. These included “From Gasps to Bridges: Active Learning Methodologies,” which explored strategies for increasing engagement and autonomy; “The Power of Collaboration: Creating Connected Communities through Inquiry-Based Learning,” which focused on relationship-building and meaningful inquiry; and “Empowering Educators to Develop Students’ Critical Thinking by Using Design Thinking Strategies,” which emphasized creativity and problem-solving, among others.

Beyond their own sessions, our team took full advantage of the conference’s collaborative environment by attending a wide range of presentations and exploring topics both within and beyond their areas of expertise.

Receiving the AMISA Global Citizenship Award

The conference also marked a moment of pride and celebration for our school. In April, two of our High School students, Maria Clara Brum and Luka Braga, were selected as recipients of the AMISA Global Citizenship Grant and Recognition Award for their community service project, Preparing Youth for University Entrance Exams. In recognition of their outstanding initiative, they received a US$1,000 grant to support and expand their work. Their award was presented during the conference, with our teachers proudly representing the School of the Nations.

A culture of growth

Professional development is a foundational value at the School of the Nations. We believe that by supporting our teachers’ continued growth, we strengthen the learning environment for all. The knowledge, skills, and connections our team brought home from AMISA 2025 will help shape a more dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking community.
