Participation across all committees, leadership roles, and multiple awards highlight the performance of Middle and High School students at the Model United Nations conference.

From February 5 to 7, Middle and High School students from Escola das Nações participated in the XI BSBMUN Conference – Building Bridges and Empowering Change, held at the American School of Brasília (EAB). The event brought together students from various institutions for a Model United Nations experience, fostering discussions on current global issues in an academic and collaborative environment.
The conference provided participants with opportunities to develop essential academic skills, including public speaking, argumentation, critical thinking, leadership, and diplomacy.
Throughout the conference’s seven committees, which addressed topics ranging from BRICS to the Human Rights Committee, Escola das Nações was represented in every committee, with students taking on prominent roles and demonstrating strong academic preparation. As a result, students earned four Best Delegate awards, in addition to other recognitions and leadership positions that highlight their active participation and excellence.
Among the individual highlights, Caroline Fernandes, a Grade 9 student, received the Best Delegate award in the Security Council (High School). In the BRICS Committee (High School), Giovanna Brito, from Grade 11, was also named Best Delegate, representing with distinction the economic bloc composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
In the Human Rights Committee (Middle School), Sophia Guedes, a Grade 8 student, was recognized as Best Delegate, standing out for the quality of her arguments and her diplomatic approach throughout the debates.
Another major highlight was the Historical Committee, in which all three awards were presented to Escola das Nações students. Felipe Britto, from Grade 11, received the Best Delegate award, while Rodolfo Araújo, also from Grade 11, was recognized as Best Speaker. Maria Isabel Campo, from Grade 11, received an Honorable Mention, completing the school’s outstanding performance in this committee.
In addition to the awards, the conference also featured students in leadership positions. Sérgio Daher, a Grade 9 student, served as Head Chair of the Security Council (High School)—a highly competitive position that required a formal application process. Holding this role as a ninth grader highlights his commitment, academic maturity, and leadership skills.
Participation in the XI BSBMUN Conference reinforces Escola das Nações’ commitment to an education that promotes global thinking, academic engagement, and the development of thoughtful leaders prepared to face the challenges of the contemporary world.
