The event highlighted student authorship and fostered a love of reading across the school community.

On February 28, School of the Nations held the 2026 edition of its Literacy Day, bringing together students from Early Childhood through High School for a schedule dedicated to promoting reading and writing. The event aimed to strengthen students’ interest in books and expand their literary experiences. Under the theme “Magic on Every Page,” the fair featured activities designed to encourage creativity and student engagement with different genres and forms of written expression.
One of the main highlights was the presentation of original books written by students from Nursery through Grade 5. Each class developed its own stories, which were compiled into published collections especially for the event. The project had an interdisciplinary approach, connecting the Literacy Day with the Nations Festival. Each grade produced narratives inspired by the country it will represent at the festival, broadening students’ cultural perspectives while integrating literature, research, and creativity. During the event, students participated in book-signing sessions, celebrating their work alongside their families.
In Early Childhood, the program included book sales and the traditional “Book Swap” project, which encouraged students to donate and exchange books, promoting access to new reading opportunities. Students also presented their own literary works and attended a performance of “Lúcia Já Vou Indo” by Trupe Trabalhe Essa Ideia.
At the Main Campus, our community enjoyed the theatrical play "A Revolta dos Brinquedos" by Grade 6 students, as well as book sales and the Book Swap, autograph sessions, and award ceremonies. The program also featured a performance by the Nations Parents’ Choir, the launch of the Elementary Sarau Literário, and workshops organized by Elementary teachers.
By bringing together different school divisions around the celebration of literature, the 2026 Literacy Day reaffirmed the school’s commitment to students’ academic and cultural development, establishing itself as a meaningful opportunity to promote reading, written expression, and student voice.
