From his first triathlon to becoming a two-time JEDF champion, Gabriel Pontual’s journey is a story of discipline, perseverance, and passion for the sport.

Grade 9 student Gabriel Pontual celebrated an outstanding year in triathlon, earning two major titles during the 2025–26 school year. Throughout the season, Gabriel became a two-time Triathlon Champion at the Federal District School Games (JEDF) and won the overall title at the Brasília Sprint Triathlon Cup, establishing himself among the top young triathletes in the Federal District.

Two-time Champion

In June 2026, Gabriel defended his title at the Federal District School Games (JEDF), becoming a two-time triathlon champion after winning the competition for the second consecutive year.

Competing in the 12–14 age category, Gabriel finished as the overall winner of the race, crossing the finish line ahead of every competitor—including athletes from the 15–17 age group. The event combined the three disciplines of triathlon—running, cycling, and swimming—and gathered some of the District's top young athletes.

Representing Nations as the school's only competitor, Gabriel brought home another title while proudly carrying the school's name to the podium.

Another Victory in Brasília

Only a few weeks later, Gabriel added another important result to his season by winning the overall title at the Brasília Sprint Triathlon Cup.

The competition featured sprint-distance events consisting of 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling, and 5 kilometers of running. Finishing first overall, Gabriel secured another significant achievement in one of the region's main triathlon competitions.

From Swimming to Triathlon

Gabriel’s success in triathlon began only recently. A competitive swimmer since childhood, he entered his first triathlon competition in 2025 and immediately stood out.

Now, at just 15 years old, Gabriel is pursuing his goal of becoming a professional triathlete while balancing training demands with his studies at Nations. His achievements over the past two years reflect the dedication and consistency that have marked the beginning of his athletic journey.
