Girls Futsal crowned champions once again while Nations earns Overall Champion title

From April 2 to 6, our student-athletes took part in International Schools Sports League Season II (ISSL)—a tournament that brings together international and American schools from across Brazil. Representing the school in futsal and volleyball, the Cougars delivered an outstanding performance, earning four trophies and marking one of the most successful campaigns in recent years.

The highlight of the competition was the Girls Futsal team, which advanced to the finals after a dramatic semifinal decided by penalty kicks. In the final match, the team displayed remarkable skill and unity, securing the title of two-time champions of the ISSL Girls Futsal Championship. The victory also secured a spot in the AASB Final Four tournament, where the team will compete later this school year for the national title among schools affiliated with the Association of American Schools in Brazil (AASB).

The Boys Futsal and Girls Volleyball teams also stood out, both earning third-place finishes and bringing home bronze trophies after a series of competitive and hard-fought matches. The Boys Volleyball team demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the tournament, concluding the season in sixth place overall.

As a crowning achievement, the School of the Nations was named Overall Champion of ISSL Season II—an award granted to the school with the highest cumulative score across all matches and categories. With a narrow two-point lead over the runner-up, this recognition reflects the consistency, teamwork, and discipline of our athletes across the board.

A special acknowledgment goes to our coaches — Mr. Kaio Lamounier, coach of the Girls Futsal team; Mr. Felipe Carvalho, coach of the Boys Futsal team; and Mr. Israel Pinheiro, who leads both Volleyball teams. Their leadership, commitment, and technical expertise continue to elevate our athletic program, season after season.

Beyond the medals and trophies, the season was defined by the dedication and unity shown by every student-athlete.
