Annual Nations conference engages students in high-level debates on global issues and international cooperation.

From April 24 to 26, the School of the Nations welcomed over 80 student delegates for the sixth edition of MUNations—its annual Model United Nations (MUN) conference. Hosted on the main campus, the event brought together participants from Grades 7 to 12, representing four schools: the School of the Nations, The British School of Brasília, The American School of Brasília, and Colégio Olimpo.
More than a simulation, MUNations VI offered students a deep dive into the world of international diplomacy. Over the course of three days, delegates took on the roles of country representatives, committee chairs, and press correspondents, engaging in structured debates on urgent global challenges. Together, they practiced drafting resolutions, navigating alliances, and understanding the complexities of real-world international relations.
The event also featured a distinguished panel of guest speakers who shared insights from their careers in diplomacy and foreign affairs. Among them were Tonika Sealy-Thompson, Ambassador of Barbados to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay; and George El Jallad, Chargé d’Affaires at the Lebanese Embassy. Their presence gave students a rare opportunity to engage directly with experienced diplomats and ask questions about careers in international service.
At the School of the Nations, MUNations has become a cherished tradition that reflects the school’s commitment to global citizenship. The conference helps students develop essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, research, and leadership, while deepening their understanding of global cultures and political systems.
