Art connects us

It's fashionable. It's musical. It's theatrical. It's neon. It's Arts Day!

What is it like to express yourself through art?

Arts Day is a unique occasion for students and the community to experience the arts to their fullest. Once a year, our Arts department organizes Arts Day on a Saturday to share students’ artwork and to experience different artistic activities. On March 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, booths and workshops offered visitors different and unusual perspectives on the arts. From music to dance, to paintings and photographs - Arts Day was the pinnacle of creativity coming together in one special event.

Pinhole photography and the photo booth were highlights for both young and old. Two technologies, one from the past and the other from the present, contrasted different approaches to photography – providing a connection between different generations.

Sebastián Parasole, chef and Coordinator of the Gastronomy course at Centro Universitário IESB, was one of many guests who contributed innovatively to Arts Day. Parasole and his team of cooks organized an inviting cupcake decoration festival. Students selected flavors, icings, and toppings to make their very own signature cupcakes.

Music and dance also played a part. Break dancing and DJ workshops, salsa lessons, and an orchestra joined for a unique celebration of music and dance.

And what would Arts Day be without some paint, dye, and some really dirty hands? Students and visitors enjoyed art exhibitions, learned to do tie-dye and draw graffiti, and had their faces painted, in style!

Art transcends verbal communication.

Art revolves around expressing feelings.

Art is expressing one’s soul.
