School of the Nations Partner with Te Vejo na Praia

At the beginning of the year, School of the Nations started a Solid Waste Management Plan to map the flow of waste at School and to raise awareness of the waste of food, water, and paper.

This lead us to partner with Te Vejo na Praia, an event that takes place every July and August. Te Vejo na Praia’s them this year is New Consciousness, a concept in which everything used at a party is sustainable or recyclable. For example, rather than throwing away glasses used at the party, they are transformed into art.

As part of our partnership agreement, all the oil used by event organizers will be given to our School Factory. Students can then use it to make liquid soap to use at the Te Vejo na Praia event.

To express their gratitude, students in Grade 11 were invited for an afternoon of fun and to learn about sustainability. They played volleyball, handball with soap, played in the sand, and cooled off with a water hose.

They had a wonderful time learning about sustainability. We are looking forward to future events with our new partners in sustainability!
