3rd Annual Teacher Appreciation Event Organized by PTA

It is known that a teacher’s influence can affect students for a lifetime. Teachers, assistants and monitors often assume roles as caring second parents, confident best friends or even a shoulder to cry on. With a spirit of appreciation for all our teachers’ hard work and effort, Nations’ Parent Teacher Association, in partnership with the American School’s and Brasilia International School’s PTA’s, organized a fun event.

On May 5, the U.S. Embassy hosted the 3rd Annual Teacher Appreciation Event. Over 130 teachers from the 3 schools involved attended the event and had a great time! A kind opening speech from U.S. Ambassador Ayalde opened the event, followed by live music and drinks, creating a relaxed, fun, much deserved atmosphere for our teachers. Dinner, beverages, dessert were in abundance and over 60 prizes were raffled all night long.

Baskets of gifts, desserts and beverages for the event were donated by Nations families and Nations classes. Our Parent Collaborators deserve an enormous thank you for organizing the donation of a lovely array of baskets and door prizes that ranged from a night at the movie or day at the spa to jewelry, wine and even a gift basket of Athos Bulcão products.

Along with a great time, teachers develop future collaborations — teaming up on sport teams, sharing academic content, to joining the musical talents from the 3 different faculties to create a band for next year’s event.

Lauren Tickle, Grade 3 Teacher, said that it is always fun to mingle with teachers from all over Brasília. “I thought the event at the US Embassy was super fun! I really enjoyed how organized it was, the delicious food (especially the desserts!) and drinks, and of course the non-stop prizes and great music. I am humbled by the kindness and generosity of the parents at our school!”

Our school community appreciates deeply the effort of our PTA to ensure everyone’s happiness.
