Mosquito-Free Campuses

On February 16 and 17, community agents from the Ministry of Health visited School of the Nations to help ensure we are doing everything possible to combat the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. These inspections occur every 3 to 4 months.

Both campuses were thoroughly inspected - water tanks, gutters, flower pots, toilets, garden, reservoirs. No mosquito larva was found. This was a result of our Maintenance Team’s hard work, active leadership and care for our school grounds, and it is helping keep our students and staff safe. We were complimented on our initiative of closing grills and windows with screens and for having fish in the center of our garden.

Our Moral Education Coordinator, Ms. Neryângela Samoori, shared: “As a parent of a three-year-old, knowing that our school is safe environment is a relief. I am happy to see the school doing everything possible to eliminate mosquitoes!”

On Friday, March 11, our students will take part in a workshop on the prevention of mosquitoes with an agent from the Ministry of Health. That way, they can take ownership of their responsibility in fighting the mosquito and helping keep our school environment healthy.

School of the Nations is a partner with the Brazilian Ministry of Health in the campaign against the proliferation of the mosquito. We have shared with our community materials with detailed information about what actions to take individually and in the community.
